Cardiologist Dan Gikonyo has told the court that President William Ruto personally contacted him to inquire about the health of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua during his admission at Karen Hospital in October 2024.

Testifying on Wednesday, Dr Gikonyo said Gachagua was undergoing medical examinations after reportedly developing chest complications during Senate impeachment proceedings. He informed the president that tests were still ongoing and promised further updates once doctors completed assessments.

The medic also disclosed that he first sought Gachaguaโ€™s consent before sharing any health information with Ruto.

However, the hearing turned tense after lawyers questioned missing medical evidence, with Dr Gikonyo admitting that several scans, laboratory reports and imaging records were not attached to the affidavit presented before court.
