Police officer shoots colleague dead over case file, commits suicide

Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) has lost two of its officers in a shooting spree Tuesday afternoon at Bunamwaya Community Police Station, Makindye Sabagabo in Kampala.

PC No. 53443 Ben Ojilong reportedly had a bitter exchange with CPL No. 30007 Alex Opito before he picked his gun, shooting him dead.

A stray bullet from the incident also hit an LDU officer.

He was pronounced dead on arrival at Kitebi hospital. After killing Opito, Ojilong then shot himself dead.

According to Deputy KMP Police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, all the bodies are at Mulago hospital for postmortem.
