ELGON BORDER RDCs DISAGREE OVER INFLUX OF KENYANS SMUGGLED INTO UGANDA THROUGH POROUS ENTRY POINTS

Kigai Wamoto Moses the RDC Namisindwa district and his counterpart Ahamed Washaki of Manafwa have disagreed over reports of increased influx of people still sneaking into the country from Kenya even after the presidential directive on corona virus pandemic put in place at the closer of the border entry points ,Ahamed Washaki told Second Opinion Magazine that following the closer of the Uganda and Kenya border areas his district has continued receiving people from Kenya both Ugandans who had gone for greener pasture in Uhuru Kenyata’s land and some Kenyans sneaking into Uganda through porous border points

He said that currently his district has registered over 200 people who was captured by security after sneaking into Uganda and are kept at Bugonero Health centre 4 undergoing a quarantine as test samples are taken from them,He said that the people went to Kenya and the lockdown got them there but due the increased number of cases of corona virus in Kenya ‘ the threat has forced some Ugandans to sneak back home following reports that President Yoweri Museveni is on record in East Africa over managing the situation of the corona virus pandemic compared to the neighbouring countries

He said that there is need to send more man power at the border areas especially his place to help curb the people still sneaking into the country through the porous entry points. “We need man power of the security and medics for Buvobero Health centre 4 because people are running from Kenya back here following the increase in the number of cases in Kenya” Washaki told this reporter.

However his counterpart Moses Wamoto Kigai RDC Namisindwa district when contacted refuted Washaki’s reports and lowered it to just baseless allegations,According to Kigai all the border entry points are manned well with the coordination of security from Elgon region the RPC and RISO offices. He said that there are no persons entering Uganda currently under the lockdown as alleged by Washaki,He said that the truth there is a lot of pain from the people following the border closer because the nature of earning a living by residents is based on cross border movements which was halted and no one cross the border

” We have day and night patrols ‘ a 24hrs surveillance team ‘ we have Gisos who were given motorcycles to move while vigilant LCs in all illegal porous border entry points are in place to curb any nonsense of sneaking in or out even smuggling was stopped” said RDC Wamoto Kigai, He pointed out one notorious porus border point Namboko between Manafwa and Tororo which he said that by now a heavy deployment by security including CMI officers are camping there,He said that there were people who used cross through the waters of River Manafwa area but all were blocked and every tip given by the presidential directive on Corina virus pandemic are fully implemented at Namisindwa border district,But Washaki mantained that they are still having a problem at Angololo check point a porous entry between Manafwa and Tororo which is a hidden place.
