Police foils Singer Eddy Kenzo’s fans from accessing Entebbe Airport

Singer Eddy Kenzo real names Edrisa Musuza finally returned to his
home country after several months stuck in Ivory Coast where he had
gone to perform a music concert but unfortunate hundreds of his fans
who had come to welcome him were denied accessing Entebbe
International Airport after the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA)
ordered Airport police to block them before ordering them to return to
their respective places.
While addressing the press at Entebbe International Airport, Kenneth
Otim, the principal public affairs at Civil Aviation Authority said
the health guidelines doesn’t allow anyone to interact with returnees
except the medical team that subjects them to mandatory COVID-19 test.

Otim revealed that a few days ago Entebbe Airport experienced
congestion of flights arriving at the same time including one for
returnees and two for cargo and consequently the one for returnees was
suspended before setting off to Uganda.
Ambassador Alfred Namu, the Head of public diplomacy at the Ministry
of Foreign affairs, said yesterday they received two flights one from
Doha in  Qatar and another from West Africa that repatriated  Ugandans
and legal residents who were stranded abroad.

Namu revealed that yesterday’s two flights bring the total number of
flights to 19 and the total number of returnees to 2,154 since the
repatriation exercise begun.

Namu further revealed that public Quarantine facilities are given
first priority to only students and domestic workers returning from
abroad adding that government of Uganda is committed to repatriating
all Ugandans who are still stranded abroad.
