Residents of Manafwa District stand to be punished if they continue to go againsts measures that were put in place by the Health ministry to prevent citizens from catching the deadly coronavirus (Covid-19) which has so far claimed one person in the country.
The warning was issued by Manafwa District Resident Commissioner (RDC)Ahmed Washaki after the health ministry confirmed on Thursday that a resident of neighbouring Namisindwa district died of Covid-19, making it the first death in Uganda directly linked to Covid-19. The number of cases in the country are over 1,079 as of July 23, 2020.
Washaki said he would arrest those found in drinking joints, burial ceremonies and other places where people gather such as markets, churches and mosques.
