M7 Legal team warns Bobi over withdrawing presidential suit

The national resistance movement party legal team has strongly warned that the leader of the National Unity platform party Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu risks paying huge sums of money in costs in case he went out and withdrew his presidential petition case currently with the Supreme Court.

The NRM party director of legal services Oscar Kihika told the media at the NRM secretariat today that if Kyagulanyi decided to withdraw the presidential petition he recently filed with the supreme court challenging the results of his client president Museveni on grounds that some of the bench Justices are most likely not going to be fair to him given that some of them have worked under president Yoweri Museveni.

Kihika pointed out that Kyagulanyi should allow the law process to take its cause because that was his earlier decision of which as the NRM they totally agree with however in case he turns around and decides to withdraw the same petition, the price he risks to encounter includes among other grounds, court may reject that proposal or he may be compelled to pay the NRM legal team huge costs in wasting their time and resources.

‘We would like to warn him that he should stop abusing the court by way of using the media to persistently threaten the Justices and at same time blackmailing the temple of justice because it can be criminal’ warned Kihika.

Enock Barata another member of the legal team said that Kyagulanyi behavior was unbecoming and unacceptable because he is on record for being the most stubborn person who continues breaking the laws that govern the court like acts of openly abusing and belittling Justices which has left them wondering as to why he chose to seek redress from an institution he did not have trust in.

‘We appeal to  Kyagulanyi to  have some respect for the court because as a leader he needs to be clean in whatever he attempts to do’ noted Barata adding that their team of lawyers was looking forward to whatever Kyagulanyi tries to do but he should not take the direction of withdrawing the petition because there are several legal processes that he must follow in order to arrive at that conclusion.

Kyagulanyi has threatened that he may be compelled to withdraw the petition from the supreme court citing reasons like some of the bench Justices being former attorneys of Museveni like the chief justice Alfonso Owinyi Dolo among others  and that he may turn to the court of public opinion as a last resort.

Kyagulanyi contends that president Museveni cheated him in the 14^th January presidential elections by way of using the electoral commission, the military and the Covid19 standard operating procedures [SOPs] as vehicles of which blocked his campaign trial an act that affected his performance.
