The Uganda Association of External Recruitment Agency (UAERA) has voiced concern over the manner in which suspended recruitment agency, Forbes Enterprises Limited, has continued to operate even after suspension.
Forbes’ license was suspended more than a year ago over misconduct and human trafficking allegations after it emerged that the one of the proprietors, Didas Kaginda, illegally recruited girls outside the Mussaned system to Saudi Arabia and Dubai as domestic workers. However, unfortunately, one of the recruits died.

However, we have since learnt that whereas the line ministry, the Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development suspended the operations of Forbes’, they are still in operation.
Face books posts on Forbes account show they actively recruited under the ‘Easter Promotion’.

However, according to UAERA, the actions of Forbes are illegal.
“If they (the ministry) confirmed to you that (Forbes are in operation), then we expect the action to be happening now because they (ministry) are the best people because they are the ones who license and de-license and If they are recruiting yet they are not licensed, then what they are doing is illegal and the ministry out to take action immediately.” Ronald Mukundane, UAERA’s spokesman, said.
Asked the status of Forbes’ membership with UAERA, he said, “Of course when they were licensed, they were a member.”
Last week, an official of the Ministry of Gender, Labor and Social Development told us that Forbes’ license is still under suspension.
“Their license is under suspension. I am not aware that they are operating but let me send my people there,” Milton Turyasiima, an Assistant Commissioner Employment Services, told us by telephone.

It is not clear what actions have been taken against Forbes.
