Plot to frustrate Prophet Kakande’s investments in Masaka leaks

By Nathan Ngobi

A  planned move by some Kampala mafias to implicate prophet Samuel Kakande over  alleged misuse of wetland hit a hard rock  before taking off after it was discovered that the man of God quit growing rice  in Bukakata sub county Masaka District  way back in 2015.

Kakande, a senior pastor and head at Synagogue Church of all Nations Kampala Uganda, became popular for performing miracles during his services where he heals the sick of all kinds of diseases.

The man of God after abandoning the rice growing scheme he later went into tourism and set up an Eco tourism project in Bukakata sub county Masaka district.

“Following the advice from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and Justice Catherine Bamugemereire probe commission on land, Pastor Kakande stopped the rice growing scheme and started piloting the Eco Tourism project in Bukakata subcounty, Masaka district between 2015 and 2016 with the aim of restoring the areas to its original state,” a source from Kakande’s ministries intimated to The Second Opinion Publications.

NEMA had initially allowed Pastor Kakande to embark on a palm oil growing program as an out grower extension for BIDCO, a scheme he also dropped and opted for a more eco-friendly eco-tourism project.

President Yoweri Museveni recently at one of the National functions at Kololo Independence ground retaliated against his directive and ordered actions to remove all people still occupying wetlands in the country.

Joint operations of NEMA officials, security and other local authorities kick-started the campaign to restore the wetland that started at Lubigi swamp in Kampala along the Northern by pass.

Following the above background a group of mafias in Kampala teamed up with some gang in Masaka in a syndicated plan to extort money and frustrate Pastor Samuel Kakande’s motive of Eco Tourism investment in Bukakata by threatening and faking court action fronted by Victoria Eco System against the Holy man over misuse of wetland, a project he abandoned long ago.

Court threats

The Second Opinion has reliably learnt and established that   MS Victoria Ecosystem Solutions is a non-existing registered organization in Uganda while they planned to use  a law firm of Probata Advocates which is also currently not licensed  by  the Uganda Law Council.

Pastor Kakande’s team was shocked to also learn that such un licensed firm would go ahead to threaten and file an environmental abuse case against the man of God Kakande on baseless ground where a rice scheme does not exist anymore.

Prophet Kakande Eco Tourism project.

Pastor Kakande plans to set and extend his eco-tourism projects near Lake Nabugabo Ramsar site, for instance, he established a fruit tree nursery bed to raise seedlings for distribution to communities in order  to undertake enrichment planting in Bukakata.

He also has plans to establish a resource centre for educating communities on  the best  use of the environment.

The  Eco tourism village model according to  Pastor Kakande that he  initiated  in Bukakata sub county has been closely guided by NEMA authorities among them Harriet Namara,Tonny Kiwanuka,Richard Muwanga and Richard Kiwanuka .

The Masaka district council chairman, Andrew Batemyeto, the district speaker, Francis Kimuli and the area MP, Hon Kanyike including district environment personnel have visited and commended the Gwamba eco-tourism village project for being a model eco-tourism area .

Hon Kanyike the Bukoto East MP in Masaka who sits on  the Natural Resources committee of  Parliament encouraged the public to visit the project on the grounds that it educates  on conservation of environment.

The project has tree planting schemes especially on fruit, traditional cultural trees  and medicinal trees , located a  distance from the wetlands.

“It’s interesting that some misguided mafia syndicate are filling rice scheme case that does not exist on the farm, we are ready to battle them out in court, its an opportunity to expose the racket and  find a long term solution for such scrap,” a source attached to the project exclusively told The Second Opinion.

The eco-tourism village project has provided jobs to many locals within the

Bukakata community especially those who have been displaced by the operation against illegal fishing that closed down the ungazetted landing sites in Masaka. The source added.

Five prominent lawyers have been lined up  to defend its eco-tourism interests should the mafias go ahead .

Wilson Behwera the project manager told this media house that they are not scared about those intending to drag their scheme to court.

“We are ready and shall teach whoever crosses our way the law books should they risk on Pastor Kakande” Said Wilson.

The  Bukakata LC 3 Chairman Aloysuis Jjuuko said that the project has helped the community to plant trees  and several other job opportunities.

It has also supported the area by  improving access roads and network connection from  the Eco village project to  the recently rehabilitated Masak-Bukakata tourism road..

Pastor Kakande had initially planned to start 8000 fish cage farming projects along the shores of lake Victoria that stretch from Lambu to Namirembe landing sites where he owns several acres of land.

However, the project was frustrated by some locals and negative elements.

Authorities from the local government Ministry recently described Masaka was hostile to investors.  Masaka has lost out on many industrial investment opportunities that include the Coca Cola plant that was originally set for Masaka and later relocated to Mbarara due to local sabotage.
