The Uganda Revenue Authority (UR) will start waiving penalties arising from receipts and e-invoices (EFRIS).
In a notice shared on Wednesday, the URA says traders from Kikuubo and the Central Business District whose businesses were impacted because they were new to the EFRIS system will have their penalties waived starting May 27, 2024. This will continue until May 31, 2024.
The URA says that the Authority will also provide taxpayers who have an insufficient understanding of the new EFRIS system with relevant knowledge for compliance going forward.
Traders from other districts have been advised to visit the nearest regional offices for similar assistance.
