Prof.Nawangwe revealed that the university was committed to supporting PWD students and that recently the deputy speaker of parliament Thomas Tayebwa opened the disability support Unit based at the Makerere CTF 1 building which serves as a one stop centre of learning Excellency for the student PWD fraternity.
However the dean of students Dr. Winfred Kabumbuli observed that the disability unit or center is equipped with a variety of assistive technologies devices like a fully stocked library equipped with PWD related study and reading materials.
Prof. Nawangwe pointed out that the University council would discuss modalities of incorporating the PWD self or privately sponsored students into the welfare scheme as well as at admission stage.
The university guild president Lubega Nsamba together with his student prime minister Adroni Rodney jointly thanked the government through their vice chancellor for opening up the space of supporting issues which had been disturbing the PWD fraternity at campus saying they are excited at these developments.
