Minister Bwino, political rival at crossroads over NRM voters register

The state for Agriculture  as well as Kigulu North Legislator , Hon. Fred Kyakulaga Bwino is at crossroads with his fellow party rival Ismail Badogi Waguma over  inflation of NRM Voters’ register in three sub- counties of Namungalwe, Kidago and Nambale. 

The bickering stems from allegations that the registrars in the said three sub-counties inflated numbers in the party Voters’ register in favour of MP hopeful Ismail Badogi Waguma , something he strongly refutes.

Mr. Ismail Badogi explained:

I’m informed that a meeting was held  on March 4, 2025  and lots of issues were raised in regards to the authenticity of the NRM registration that took place in Kigulu North constituency particularly in the Sub-counties of  Namungalwe, Nambale and kidaago. I have been informed that during the meeting someone claimed that  registrars inflated numbers in the NRM voters’ register on my behalf which I  strongly disagree with.

‘Iam aware that after my political opponent realised he lacks numbers he has resorted to looking for ways of tampering with the  genuine registered voters,  and we can’t rule out this especially in the Sub-counties of  Namungalwe, Nambale and kidaago.

‘ Please note that our teams are doing the necessary to ensure that all the registered NRM voters are not tampered with by anyone with selfish interests.

Note that no sub-county register has been canceled as per rumours. I will update all our village leaders on the next course of action, ” Ismail  Badogi Waguma explained .’

In other news, MP hopeful  Ismail Badogi Waguma has rolled out his visits to the five Sub-counties counties that form Kigulu North constituency, and of recent he donated motor bikes to all county sheikhs within the constituency. 

Sources from  Iganga district Electoral office told us that since this time round Badogi is standing on NRM ticket , the Electoral body will not hesitate to declare him winner so long as he wins the 2026 elections unlike in the previous elections where he stood on  opposition ticket and ended up emerging runners up. 

Meanwhile, Hon. Fred Kyakulaga Bwino, who has not returned to the electorate ever since he was elected in 2021 parliamentary polls , he plans to start reaching out to voters ahead of the impending party primaries. However, it’s believed he has already lost  political ground since most of his Chief political mobilizers have already joined Ismail Badogi Waguma whom they look at as the best person to represent the views of the people of Kigulu North constituency , Iganga district.
