Disgruntled Nangoli Supporters Join Paul Wanyoto’s Camp for Mbale Northern Division City MP Slot

Several disgruntled supporters of Umar Nangoli who lost his NRM flag for Mbale Northern City Division MP slot to Hudu Hussein by virtue of tribunal declaration in Kampala have vowed to join Paul Wanyoto Mugoya camp.

The supporters say that their person was robbed off the NRM flag under what they refer to as unscrupulous manner at the NRM secretariat tribunal threatening and vowed to join the reportedly clean camp of Independent Paul Wanyoto Mugoya other than supporting Hudu Hussein come the 2026 general elections.

The tribunal sitting in Kampala headed by John Musiime, in a ruling dated August 22, 2025, declared Hudu Hussein the duly elected NRM flag bearer for Mbale Northern Division City constituency as opposed to the declaration made in Mbale during the election.

Accordingly, the tribunal, initial lead of 591 votes by Nangoli was overturned after the petitioner, Hudu Hussein, put up a spirited fight and successfully challenged the results.

The tribunal asserted that votes from Namabasa Zone 3 were not genuine, resulting in Hussein taking the lead with a margin of 336 votes.

Following the outcome of snatching the parliamentary NRM flag from Umar Nangoli, several of his NRM supporters have since vowed and joined the camp of political rival and independent standby generator force the PLU dude Paul Mugoya Wanyoto instead of supporting a fellow NRM Hudu Hussein.

Nangoli has demonstrated that Hudu will still play him ahead of the elections, people will vote and Hudu will take the seat just the same way Wambede took from Masaba in the same constituency.

Speaking to the Second Opinion Publications in Kampala at Kololo Rtd Sgt. Masagazi Siraji  an NRM and a delegate from Namanyonyi sub county said that as Nangoli supporters they have vowed to join the camp of Paul Mugoya Wanyoto an independent candidate other than supporting people conflicting over party flag.

“We were supporters of Nangoli, but now we have decided to fully join and support Paul Wanyoto Mugoya for MP Northern Division Mbale city” Masagazi said.

He said that they are going to traverse the whole constituency moving to campaign for Paul Wanyoto Mugoya among the seven sub counties starting with their stronghold of Namanyonyi, Lwaso, Nakaloke town council, Namabasa sub county, Nakaloke rural and Bukonde sub county.

He added that they will also camp in the old Northern division areas of Namakwekwe, Kiteso, and the rest of the constituency to make sure Paul Wanyoto Mugoya wins come 2026 general elections.

 Masagazi revealed that Paul Wanyoto is so generous and supportive to his community who has involved himself in community mobilisation towards developments.

“Paul Wanyoti is ever with his people in times of need, communal matters like grading of marram roads, burials, safe water projects and above all responds urgently in situations of disasters while in terms of national developments he got involved in mobilising locals and youths to join EMYOOGA, PDM among other on top of supporting the needy children go to school” Masagazi said.

While on for Kiti Yahaya the chairman of NRM Lwaso sub county said that the new leading political kid in Mbale is Paul Wanyoto Mugoya.

He said that following the conflict over who owns the NRM flag as they voted and the tribunal shifted it to another person, now most voters have opted to go by Paul Wanyoto Mugoya.

Mzee Kiti Yahaya who spoke to this reporter while at Kololo impedance ceremonial ground during the on going NRM party CEC and special interests’ groups elections, said that Paul Wanyoto Mugoya is an NRM member but hiding in Independent following numerous conflicts associated with NRM internal party elections and therefore Northern Mbale city division have now vowed to support and vote Paul Wanyoto Mugoya as their next member of parliament come 2026 general elections.

“I met Hudu Hussein in Nakawa and he asked me to join him but it is late, people are now deciding on who to support, it is Paul Wanyoto Mugoya come rain come sun shine” Mzee Kiti Yahaya asserted.

He added that both Nangoli and Hudu are good NRM members, while as Hudu is mostly known in Kampala with better network if voted can use his network well to help his people but Nangoli is better on ground since he began his journey long ago than Hudu, however both put together Paul Wanyoto Mugoya ranks higher and we shall go by that.

He revealed that one of those candidates mentioned a tribal sentiment that non Bagisu will quit Mbale and such a statement has circulated a lot and it would cost him votes even if he fights heard it could not be easy to overturn it
