Ms. Olive Birungi Lumonya the Deputy Director General of Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) asked Airport Stakeholders who were participants at a three (3) days Regulatory excellency training at Protea Hotel in Entebbe to take the acquired skills beyond classroom learning.
Lumonya made the call while officially closing the Regulatory Excellency training that started on 1st to 3rd September 2025 which drew several Airport stakeholders in a participatory interaction during the three days.
“Let us continue to embody the spirit of excellency in the way we regulate, collaborate and innovate because the growth of Aviation in Africa depends on our ability to uphold the highest standards while embracing change” Ms. Olive Birungi Lumonya told the gathering.
She hailed the organisers and partners who included the Civil Aviation Safety and Security Oversight Agency (CASSOA), Boeing International and Cranfield University.
According to Lumonya special thanks was to CASSOA for organising a valuable collaboration, the expertise and engagement made the training course a true success.
The training was held under the theme “Regulatory Excellence- Leading the Way into the Future” and brought together aviation regulators, industry leaders and regional stakeholders for three consecutive days.
The participants were engaged into expert -led sessions, interactive exercises and case studies on strengthening regulatory frameworks, advancing safety management practices, enhancing crisis preparedness, opportunities and challenges presented by emerging technologies.
Ms. Lumonya encouraged participants to return to their mother states and institutions not only as regulators but as leaders and champions of safety and security.
She added that each one has a responsibility to carry the torch of excellency, ensuring that our skies remain safe, secure and sustainable as we build a global competitive aviation sector.
Participants were awarded certificates of completion recognizing their dedication to advancing aviation safety, security and innovation across Africa.
