The chief preacher at the All Christians from CEPAC Kibuye church which is home church of all Congolese nationals in greater Kampala region Rev. Joseph Mukenge has commended president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for granting them opportunity to stay and work in harmony while in Uganda despite being refugees displaced by conflict in their motherland.
He observed that the Congolese are humble and obedient hard-working people that cherish the people of Uganda and appreciate this gesture extended to them by the president which is a sign of good neighborliness. He was presiding over the marriage ceremony for Muombamungu James and Daniellah Kaben who tied the knot to become man and wife in Christ on Saturday.
Rev. Mukenge told the over 60 Christians that the Congolese refugee nationals staying in Uganda with families should formalize their marriage if opportunity arises because it provides stability among families and fear of the almighty Lord.
He challenged them to observe the laws of Uganda and ensure that they desist from any acts that may lead them into conflict with the laws of the country. Muombamungu James is the executive director of the Association of Refugees with Disability [ARD] which brings together several organizations advocating for the human rights and general welfare of the Congolese refugees with disabilities staying in Uganda.
He told this website at the sidelines of the event that his body is instrumental in lobbying both the government of Uganda and international NGOs for better living and working conditions of Congolese refugees with disability in Uganda.
He commended the good relationship between them and the government through the office of the prime minister [OPM], International humanitarian agencies and the Ugandan disability fraternity.
He urged the local community to respect the rights of persons with disabilities by working with them for a common goal of fighting poverty as one community.
