By Sadiq Bamwita

The founder of Ebonies drama actors Mr.Sam Bagenda alias Dr.Bbosa has tasked parents to encourage their children to join music, dance and drama saying it’s one of the ways of promoting talent among young people.

He made his appeal at Mbuya Parents’ school while officiating the school’s annual music, Dance and Drama (MDD) Production held at the International University of East Africa in Kansanga.

The event was attended by several parents, educators and invited guests who were entertained with a lively exhibition of poetry, drama, multi-cultural dances and live music.

During the event, the school’s brass band trained entirely in house stood out which demonstrates the school’s growing investment in talent development.

Similarly, learners showcased a variety of plays exploring themes of leadership, humility, morality and spirituality, in addition to showcasing both creativity and thoughtful story telling.

The cultural dance segment highlighted the school’s commitment to diversity, featuring Ugandan traditional dances such as Kiganda, Acholi and Kigezi alongside Scottish, Indian and Kinyarwanda performances.

Dr.Sam Bbosa also tasked learners to balance academics and music for a better future.

Pastor Joshua Mugabi, who led prayers during the annual school’s music, dance and drama festival urged parents to nurture their children in a proper way.

The school Head Teacher, Mr. Moses Isiko noted that the talents exhibited by the learners is a true reflection of the school’s philosophy of nurturing the whole child.

“Our School provides a holistic education. We develop the cognitive, psychomotor and affective domains. What we have just witnessed today demonstrates how our learners grow through music, dance, drama and poetry,” he said.

He added that the school’s achievements this year extended far beyond music, dance and drama revealing that the school also participated in the National Mathematics contests, where one of his learners was selected to represent Uganda at the International Mathematics Olympiad in Shanghai, China under the STEAM programme (Science, Technology, Entrepreneurship, Art and Mathematics).

‘Our school was also recognized for its excellent leadership in innovation and creativity. The school continues to strengthen language proficiency as part of its core academic programme, “Mr. Isiko assured parents.’

” We have eloquent learners and recently one of our learners debated on the floor of parliament during the malaria prevention campaign, “Mr. Isiko appreciated his learners.
