Police in Greater Masaka have launched investigations into the death of a Senior Four student at Masaka Secondary School. The deceased identified as 16-year-old, Rayati Nassali Nakato, was earlier reported missing but was later found dead along the Nyendo – Kako Road.
Preliminary police reports indicate that, Nakato a resident of Nyendo Town Council left her home at around 10 am on Sunday August 9,2026, reportedly to pick academic revision materials from a friend’s home in neighbouring Kako village.
However, at around 4:30 pm, she rung her twin sister, Sharifah Babirye, informing her that she had travelled to Nabugabo Sand beach, where moments later her phone was switched off, remaining unreachable which raised concern amongst her family members.
A search for her was mounted by the family and residents on Sunday, which ended on Monday August 11,2026, when her body was discovered along the Nyendo-Kako Road—a route connecting to Nabugabo Sand Beach.
The Southern Regional Police Spokesperson Twaha Kasirye, confirmed the incident, revealing that preliminary investigations revealed visible bruises around the victim’s neck, raising strong suspicions that she may have been sexually assaulted before being murdered and her body dumped by the roadside.
He noted that her body was taken to Masaka Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary as investigations continue into her death
