The police are investigating circumstances under which a man holding fish in his left hand died at River ENyau in Anialeku, Adalafu, Arua district.
The deceased, yet to be identified was discovered floating by Police Sgt Micah Avubeing, the Community Liaison Officer.
Regional Police spokeswoman Josephine Angucia confirmed the incident.
Angucia said an inquiry Vide Arua CPS SD REF 20/06/02/2019 has kicked off.
“The scene was visited by a team of detectives and the body of the deceased was retrieved. However, efforts to have the body taken to Arua Regional hospital for postmortem were futile since the relatives of the deceased declined to have postmortem conducted. A decision was taken to have the body handed over to the relatives for burial for purposes of avoiding other subsequent incidences,” she said.
