Besigye charged, speaks out on arrest

Ex-FDC President, Col RTD Kizza Besigye has been charged with two counts following his arrest Monday.

He faces charges of inciting violence and holding an unlawful assembly, the police say.

Besigye was arrested on his way to Namboole to attend an FDC meeting, whisked off to Naggalam Police Division.

He was later dropped off at his Kasangati home Tuesday morning.

In a tweet sent out Tuesday morning, Besigye said: “We shall overcome, by God’s Grace, cos We shall overcome, by God’s Grace, coz our Rights &Freedoms are a just cause! “No weapon formed against you shall prosper….” Isaiah 54:17 #Art3 Twerwaneko!”
