Environmental protection: Harris International gives 275 litter bins to KCCA schools

In a bid to enhance recycling and waste segregation, Harris International Limited, the manufacturers of the Riham products have entered into the partnership with Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) where they will be providing 275 litter bins to KCCA schools and division offices of Kampala District.

The handover ceremony, according to the press release, will be held on next Monday at Kawempe Church of Uganda Primary School.

According to the press release, Harris International has a strategic goal to sensitise youth in Uganda on the importance of plastic recycling. The company’s aim, it says, is to grow and inhabit a culture of recycling among the youth from an earlier stage.

The company say in the press release that it will also invest in awareness initiatives that are easy to learn teaching campaigns that can assist the youth to understand what to recycle, how to recycle and where to recycle.

“Harris International Limited, believes in a spherical economy where recycled plastic bottles cannot only be reused for various other purposes but where the act of recycling can also be used as an alternative source of income for our communities and wealth creation for the nation,” reads part of the press release.

The company says it expects to grow such partnerships in collaborations with other communities and municipalities within Uganda.
