Earlier, lawyer Male Mabirizi wanted an arrest warrant issued against him for snubbing court summons. He also tasked the Magistrate to forward the issue before the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
However, during Wednesday ruling, the Magistrate allowed the DPP to take over the matter. She said the DPP does not need permission to takeover private criminal prosecution and does not need to give reasons to take over the case.
After the ruling, Mabirizi applied for the typed proceedings to appeal against the Magistrate’s decision for allowing the DPP to take over his case.
