The Uganda Police Force’s Exodus SACCO has been recognized for its excellence in financial reporting, accountability, and transparency at the Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards 2025, held on Wednesday at the Hotel Africana in Kampala.

The FiRe Awards, organized annually by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU), celebrate organizations that demonstrate outstanding practices in financial reporting and corporate governance.

In the SACCOs and Cooperative Societies category, Exodus SACCO emerged as second runner-up, following Steadfin SACCO, which took the top position, and Wazalendo SACCO, the first runner-up.

Speaking after the recognition, SCP Wilson Omoding, the Board Chairperson of Exodus SACCO, expressed gratitude to ICPAU, the FiRe Awards Committee, and the Uganda Police leadership for their continued support and guidance.

“As Exodus SACCO approaches 20 years of service and operational excellence in 2027, we reaffirm our commitment to empowering our members, strengthening our governance structures, and championing responsible and sustainable growth within the cooperative sector,” SCP Omoding said.

“Together, we are building a SACCO that not only transforms lives but also contributes meaningfully to Uganda’s financial inclusion and development agenda,” he added.

The Chief Executive Officer of Exodus SACCO, SP Ashaba Osbert, hailed the FiRe Awards as instrumental in transforming the SACCO into a model institution of financial integrity, governance excellence, and sustainability accountability.

“In line with the FiRe Awards’ emphasis on transparency and communication, Exodus SACCO has redesigned its reporting style to make it more accessible, visual, and reader-friendly,” SP Ashaba said.

“The awards have elevated our reporting culture to global standards, while the unwavering support of the Uganda Police leadership has anchored our success, integrity, and long-term sustainability,” he added, encouraging members to continue saving with the SACCO and benefit from affordable credit facilities.

Board Treasurer SP Ssekanjako Eddy noted that since 2020, Exodus SACCO has consistently participated in the FiRe Awards, which have strengthened its capacity in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) and Sustainability Reporting.

“This recognition tonight is not just an award—it is a celebration of our collective journey, a testament to how continuous learning, strong governance, and stakeholder engagement can drive sustainable performance,” Ssekanjako said.

The FiRe Awards have become a hallmark of excellence, helping organizations like Exodus SACCO to align their operations with global financial reporting standards and contribute to Uganda’s broader economic development through transparency, innovation, and responsible management.
