Regional, District Kadhis warned against misconduct

Regional and district khadis have been cautioned against any acts of misconduct but work towards strengthening Muslim unity and development.

“Don’t accept to become tools that will be used to promote disunity among Muslims,” Ambassador Dr. Yahaya Rashid Ssemuddu said while addressing Regional and District Kadhis, at the weekend during the closing ceremony of the five day residential induction workshop for Regional Kadhis organised by Uganda Muslim Supreme Council at Arch Apartments in Ntinda.

He expressed concern over those still peddling wrangles among Muslims, noting that reconciliation is the way to go, because it is part of belief in Allah.

He urged the Regional and District Kadhis to work with Muslims as well as non-Muslims and to avoid conduct or acts that undermine Muslims and Islam.

Mufti of Uganda Shk Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje who was the Guest of Honour, in his remarks he lauded Dr. Ssemuddu for his dedicated service to Muslims and Islam in Uganda.

He also called upon the Regional and District Kadhis to strengthen their working relations with leaders of other religions as well as the central and local government leaders noting that;

“We need to work together on common issues that affect our motherland Uganda”.

He urged District Kadhis to work closely and under the Regional Kadhis saying that;

“Regional Kadhis are your immediate bosses, if you disobey them, you will have disobeyed the Mufti and the UMSC constitution” he noted.

The Mufti appealed to the Regional and District Kadhis ignore negative talk from parallel establishments and to invest all their energies and capabilities in delivering services to Muslims.

He later gave out certificates of attendance to the Regional Kadhis. He also handed over Wheel Chairs and other items donated by IHSAN organisation to people with disabilities.

The UMSC National Chairman, Dr. Abdulkadir Balonde, the Deputy Mufti Shk. Abdallah Semambo, the 2nd Deputy Mufti Shk. Muhammad Ali Waiswa and the UMSC Secretary General Hon. Ramadhan Mugalu also addressed the Regional and District Kadhis.

All the members of the UMSC College of Sheikhs were present.

During the course of the workshop, various UMSC heads of departments presented papers on several topical issues related to their work.

The lead facilitator of the induction workshop was Dr. Muhammad Ngoma, a Professor from Makerere University School of Business Studies.

The workshop which started on Monday October 28th was organized under the theme “Strengthening UMSC Structures to support the council development agenda”.
