A total of 75 Ugandans and permanent residents who were stuck in South Africa and Zambia due to COVID-19 pandemic got a breathing space upon landing safely at Entebbe International Airport. They were received at the airport by officials from the Ministry of Foreign affairs and Ministry of Health before being subjected to mandatory COVID-19 test and institutional quarantine.The returnees included students, government officials, business people and other people who had gone for various reasons.
The returnees left O.R Tambo international Airport in South Africa and transited through Kenneth Kaunda International Airport and arrived at Entebbe international Airport at 8pm aboard Uganda Airlines.
This was the second batch of returnees from Southern African and the first one arrived on July, 2, 2020.
However relatives of the returnees were not allowed to access them until they complete the mandatory 14 days in quarantine.
