An 86-year old landlady in Kito, Kira in Namugongo has named top police officers with claims they are working in connivance to take part of her land comprised in Kyadondo Block 185 Plot 385 at Kito, Kira in Namugongo.
Alice Nabitosi in a petition dated January 20, 2020 to the Criminal Investigations Director, AIGP Grace Akullo said that the in charge CID desk, Mulema Maliserino, Bernard Ssonko, Vincent Ssekatte and a one Luke Kamoga are directly involved in the plot to grab her land.
This plot, she said, is in connivance with Tugume Winnie to evict her and other bibanja holders off the said land.
The eviction threat, Nabitosi said in the petition that, it is being investigated by the CID.
Ever since conflict on the said land started, she said her life and that of her son, Godfrey Mukasa are at risk.
For instance, she said, Mukasa was recently trailed by police officers to his workplace and forced to make statement denying that his mother owns a kibanja in Kyadondo Block 185 Plot 385 at Kito, Kira in Namugongo.
“We have been informed by our client that ever since the dispte arose, our client and her family members including her son Godfrey Godfrey Mukasa have received numerous threats from police officers at Kira Division restraining them from appearing in the media or complaining elsewhere regarding the impending evictions. Grossly, we are informed that our client‘s son a one Godfrey Mukasa was trailed by police officers up to his workplace where they forced him to make a statement denying that his mother owns any kibanja interest on the abovementioned land,” part of letter written by Nabitosi’s lawyers of Lukwago & CO. Advocates, reads.
On top of the above, Nabitosi decried the impunity and arrogance being expressed by Mulema and his team.
“Worse still, our client is disturbed by the impunity and arrogance exhibited by Mulema Maliserino who alleges that she (Nabitosi) will not find redress anywhere because he (Mulema Maliserino) is related to the Director CID, Uganda Police,” part her letter, written by her lawyers of Lukwago & CO. Advocates reads.
To this, Nabitosi wants AIGP Akullo to intervene and also come to protect the life of Nabitosi whome her lawyers claim is in danger.
“THE PURPOSE OF THIS LETTER is to request that you intervenevinto this matter and purify the streams of justice from the abhorrent conduct of the aforementioned officers and protection of our client’s life which is apparently in danger and her bibanja interest.”
