Last night, Twitter was flooded with a debate involving the position of NRM’s 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female). Two of the aspirants; Rebecca Kadaga and Persis Namuganza were dragged in the tweets.
“@RebeccaKadagaUG says her focus @NRMOnline ‘s CEC is “Women” while @ministry_lands ‘s Persis Namuganza says hers is “Youth”! Youth make up 78% of our #population while “Women” make up 50%! On this alone, wouldn’t Namuganza be elected to position of 2nd National Vice Chairperson?” one of the tweets read. However, along the way, Jacob Oulanya was dragged in the tweet battle. “@JacobOulanyah was negotiated out in the last Elections remember.. You know NRM with consensus!” @ArthurMirama replied.
This attracted a response from Oulanya army (@TeamOulanyah).
“Negotiated out? What does that even mean? A gentleman’s agreement was reached and Oulanyah looking at the bigger picture agreed to have the incumbent serve another 5 years A man is only as good as his word” Oulanyah’s team replied.
The debate popped up hours after Kadaga revealed she is going to be Speaker in the 11th Parliament.
A statement that angered Oulanyah camp. It remains to be seen how this will in the end play out.
