Kyambogo University: Hundreds Show Interest in Huawei Uganda’s Graduate Recruitment Program

Hundreds of fresh graduates and Kyambogo University students last Friday turned up for Huawei Uganda’s Campus Recruitment Program 2026. The program gives fresh graduates an opportunity to join Huawei Uganda as graduate trainees.

Dr. Dickson Mugerwa, the program coordinator at Kyambogo University, appealed to candidates to be open to learning. “‘What we teach you in class is not enough,’” said Dr. Mugerwa.

“‘Most students think that after we have taught them and they have graduated, that is. As a graduate trainee, be patient out there. Get the skills, give them sometime, and learn. Spend most time learning, not on TikTok.’”

Dr. Robinah Nabulime, the dean of the School of Computing and Information Sciences, who represented the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration, assured Huawei Uganda that the university is committed to preparing graduates who can contribute meaningfully to global and national issues. Dr. Nabulime noted that the university is moving toward fully fledged competency-based learning, saying that “these require equipment/infrastructures.”

She appealed for more support from Huawei Uganda.

She asked students to be good ambassadors of Kyambogo University when they join Huawei Uganda as graduate trainees.

Huawei Uganda’s Deputy Director of Delivery and Service took the students through what to expect at Huawei Uganda, attracting questions from the audience. After hours of satisfactory responses, Huawei Uganda HR Manager Shamirah revealed that opportunities exist in sales, product/solution, network technical engineering, procurement, HR, and finance, among others.

“Be as honest as possible,” Shamirah told the learners. “If you lie, we will be over expectant, and you may not perform because our expectation will be quite high.”
