Officers from the Inspector General of Government have again pitched camp in the Rwenzori region following public outcry over increased alleged corruption scandals in Kasese and surrounding districts.

The team from Kampala arrived in Kasese early this week and reliable sources close to The Second Opinion revealed that a number of files about some district officials were collected from the health department and works offices.

This news site is yet to establish what exactly brought the inspectorate team to raid Rwenzori  area  and zeroed on two departments, the Inspectorate of Government is an independent institution charged with the responsibility of eliminating corruption, abuse of authority and of public office.

In May 2022, some district officials were arrested by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit and handed the suspects at Kasese Central Police station.

However, the arrests of the officials got a lot of public mixed reactions on the grounds  that the arrests targeted certain officials.

In an interview with the Chief Administrative Officer, Elias Byamukungu, he confirmed the arrival of the inspectorate department which is charged to investigate corrupt related scandals.

“There has been some tension and fear in Kasese ever since the officers camped here but we shall establish their findings after” Said CAO Byamukungu.
