Speaking during a church mass at Galilaya Healing Church in Bumbo, where he fulfilled a 500,000 UGX pledge made during last month’s fundraising, Mulongo criticized the current parliamentary leadership of Bubulo East.

He argued that many leaders have neglected their duties, prioritizing trivialities that tarnishes the district’s image. He called for trustworthy leadership, adding that those incapables should channel their energy elsewhere.

Mulongo will face off against Amos Masibo, Sakwa George, and the incumbent, John Musila, in the 2026 general elections.

However, speaking to the Second opinion publications the incumbent area member of parliament John Musila said that he is not scared at all with the coming of Mulongo back to the parliamentary race.

“I was his campaign manager and know all his weaknesses, it is me who brought him to politics right from the CA and in 2001, it is on record that he caused the death of 9 people in the constituency, then the previous election he came back disguising as Richard Mataya of Abra supermarket Mbale city and i trounced him badly” Said Musila.

He said that the voters in Bubulo East knew that Mulongo Simon brought Mataya Richard a weak candidate whom he funded so that if he won it could be easy to remove him come 2026 should express his interest to run for the parliamentary seat but all did not work out for him after Mataya lost badly.

He said that on 25th May 2001 Simon Mulongo used violence means by deploying soldiers to beat up people and in the process two armed men fired up all their bullets sparking off angry crowds to attack them and were killed together with other seven civilians lost lives.

Musila revealed that again as the biggest sponsor of Mataya Richard of Abra supermarket Mbale city , Mulongo reportedly sent a team of goons from Mbale to beat up voters in Bubulo East on 14th January 2021 where the scuffle erupted at Kaboyi primary school polling station and the Mbale goons were driven back to Mbale but in the process one person  from Bukoho sub county was killed .

He added that the voters in Bubulo East are ready to teach Mulongo another political lesson should he risk contesting in the 2026 general election. “We shall crash Simon Mulongo politically, he brought Mataya and now he is risking himself but this time that he  has come, the voters will show him a political exit in  2026 general elections,” Musila pointed out.
