AIGP Bamunoba Urges Katonga Region Officers to Uphold Human Rights and Professionalism

Katonga Region police officers have been reminded that professionalism, respect for the rule of law, and protection of human rights remain central to effective policing.

Addressing officers during his sensitization and ideological orientation tour this evening, AIGP Ubaldo Bamunoba, the Chief Political Commissar of the Uganda Police Force, emphasized that communities must feel safe through intentional policing rather than “armchair policing.”

“I urged every officer to wear patriotism like a badge, to approach duties with a positive attitude, and to give special attention to vulnerable groups—especially women, children, and all Ugandans—when upholding human rights,” AIGP Bamunoba said.

He stressed the importance of customer care at police stations, timely response to distress calls, and coordination with other security agencies and stakeholders. According to him, these principles are “non-negotiable” in ensuring police accountability and building public trust.

The Police Chief Political Commissar also urged officers to actively support government programs as Uganda works toward Vision 2040, noting that effective service delivery depends on strong partnerships between the police and the communities they serve.

With the 2026 elections approaching, AIGP Bamunoba further reminded officers of their critical role in ensuring the electoral process is free, fair, and conducted in full alignment with the electoral roadmap.
