President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni revealed that government is intending to create thousands of

jobs to the unemployed youth in Kyegegwa district after securing over 10 square miles of land in Kyaka to establish a major industrial park.

According to president Museveni, the park will host several factories including an avocado processing

plant and this will generate jobs to the young people, value addition, and increased household incomes in Kyegegwa District.

While addressing a campaign rally at Wekomire Parish in Kyegegwa District today, Mr. Museveni who is also the rulling NRM flag bearer noted that the people of Kyegegwa had expressed a strong desire for industrialization, and the government was ready to respond.

He emphasised that factories remain a key source of employment, formerly providing jobs to over 1.3 million Ugandans and this will help boost more households into the money economy.

The President also introduced the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Manifesto for 2026–2031, highlighting seven major contributions the party has made over the last 40 years, starting with the restoration of peace.

“Kyaka is among the areas that fully appreciate the value of peace, having hosted refugees for many years and experienced insecurity during the liberation struggle”, Museveni said adding that though the tarmac road ended in Mityana, the government has rehabilitated existing and constructed new ones and these include Kazo–Kabogore–Kyegegwa–Kapuyo roads.

However much the president noted that all sub-counties in Kyegegwa are now connected to the national electricity grid, he addressed several service delivery challenges highlighted in the district,

particularly in education, water access and health sector where only nine out of 19 sub-counties have functional health facilities.

“The 41 parishes still lack a government primary school but we are constructing four new seed secondary schools to reduce the number of sub-counties without a government secondary school. We are also looking at upgrading HCIIIs in Kigambo, Migongwe, Migamba, Ruhangire, Bugogo, Kyatega, Hapuuyo, Kakabara, and Mpara”, Mr. Museveni noted

On water access, President Museveni expressed concern that only 256 out of 677 villages have safe water sources. He pledged that the government will draw water from River Muzizi to improve supply across the district.

Furthermore, he reiterated the NRM’s commitment to wealth creation, encouraging residents to adopt the four-acre model. He also warned against the mismanagement of the Parish Development Model (PDM) funds, stressing that every beneficiary must receive the full Shs 1 million.
