The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority has committed itself to Supporting and providing seamless travel experiences at all airport facilities as the team continues its journey in the Total Energies AFCON 2027 Qualifiers.
This was revealed by the Director General of UCAA, Fred Bamwesigye who congratulated the Uganda Cranes upon their victory against Libya in last night’s AFCON 2027 Qualifiers at Hoima City Stadium where the team was facilitated from Hoima to Entebbe and finally to South Africa aboard Uganda Airlines.
“The Authority is pleased to have facilitated the team’s departure from Kabalega International Airport aboard a Uganda Airlines flight to Entebbe who later proceeded to South Africa for a friendly against DR Congo” Mr Bamwesigye said. The Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) supports national sports by facilitating smooth travel logistics for national teams and delegations through strategic gateways like Entebbe International Airport and Kabalega International Airport.
UCAA coordinates with bodies like FUFA to ensure fast, dedicated processing for national football teams and other athletes traveling for continental and international fixtures. Upgrades to facilities including domestic and international airfields such as Jinja and Kabalega improve regional connectivity for sports tourism.
The authority also works with airport stakeholders to streamline passenger facilitation, manage traffic surges, and maintain high safety and security standards. Uganda Cranes edged Libya 1–0 in their AFCON 2027 qualifier at Hoima City Stadium, with debutant Arnold Vula scoring the winning goal in first-half stoppage time.
