Man intentionally drowns in Lake Victoria

The police are verifying the identity of a man who last evening jumped in to Lake Victoria.

Eyewitnesses said a man aged about 26 jumped in to the lake at will.

The police were later alerted by Muhammad Ssentamu, a fisherman at Ggaba landing site.

A team of detectives were then dispatched to retrieve the body.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesman, Patrick Onyango confirmed the incident saying the man’s body had been taken to Mulago mortuary for postmortem.

Onyango said the identity of the deceased is yet to be known.

The matter has been recorded at Ggaba Police Station Vide SD Ref 24/06/05/2019.
