Controversy over Willa’s transfer to Vipers: Police say Willa is under contract

By Francis Otucu

Controversy is brewing following this week’s ‘transfer’ of right back Paul Willa from Police FC to Vipers SC for undisclosed fee.

Willa’s unveiling was captured in the club’s official statement published on its website Thursday.

“I am extremely happy to be here,” he said. “I will give all for my team. My objective is always to win and am sure this is the perfect place and time to make this happen,” part of the statement quoted Willa to have said.

According to Vipers’ statement, Willa signed a three-year deal at the club.

However, Police FC authorities have come out to say Willa is under contract at Police.

Without specifying how long, AIGP Asan Kasingye, quoting Willa’s transfer story on this site’s official Twitter handle, said as club Chairman, he is not aware of Willa’s sale.

“A player on contract signing for another club without the knowledge of the club that contracted the player? Interesting. I will be interested to look at the release letter and who signed it. If the player forged it, I can see him being banned. FUFA will have to look at this issue. This is interesting. It is going to be such a nasty case!” Kasingye said.

By press time, Vipers SC’s Head of Communications Abdu Wasike was yet to get back to us.
