Pallisa: The executive director of Dakasi Foundation Herbert Dakasi has invested shs. 20 million in football promotion and talent tapping in Pallisa county.
Ali Galya, the chairperson team Dakasi said the project which was initiated last year had come to stay because it’s going to be an annual event in which the eight teams representing each sub county compete..
Galya said they established a football management committee in each sub county which organizes parish competitions geared towards picking players for the sub county team.
He said the target sub counties are from Pallisa county which includes Kasodo, Olok, Kamuge, Putiputi, Oboliso, Pallisa town council and Pallisa rural.
“We are concentrating in Pallisa county for a number of reasons, among others is we aim at establishing an academy,” Galya said.
Herbert Dakasi said he started this annual event last year 2023 in which Kasodo sub county emerged the winner after beating Olok 2:1 and this year he has put an independence cup in which the winning sub county matches away with sh.3 million runner up shs 2 million, the third placed pockets 1 million while the fourth position takes shs. 750,000 the rest shs. 200 .0000.
“We also gave each sub county two sets of uniform, balls and training kits as the matches started. The scouts from big clubs are already around,” Dakasi said.
Abubakar Onya the Pallisa district sports officer lauded Dakasi for this initiative as he has engaged youth and women in sporting activities.
Onya said the bicycle competition that was held in June 2024 gave women high recognition in sports.
Edward OIkiring of Odwarat in Pallisa town council said the involvement of Dakasi in sports leave alone other projects has given people a second thought of making county representatives come 2026.
