Micho, Desabre meet in Egyptian Cup final 2019

Two former Uganda Cranes managers Mulitin ‘Micho’ Sredejovic of Zamalek SC and Sebastien Desabre of Pyramids FC will meet in the 2019 Egyptian Cup final on September 8.

Zamalek had snatch a hard-fought 1-0 victory for Zamalek against Ittihad of Alexandria in Egypt Cup semi-finals thanks to Mostafa Mohamed’s winner in extra time.

Meanwhile, Pyramids scored twice in the first half to defeat Petrojet 2-0 in the other semifinal tie on Monday.

The EFA had initially set the final date to be September 5 before opting to amending this date and postpone the tie three days later.

According the Egyptian football’s governing body’s statement, the match venue and number of fans allowed will be set in accordance with the Egyptian security.

Both managers are in their first seasons at their respective clubs. Desabre resigned from his position after the Afcon while the experienced Serbian took over after leaving his position behind at Orlando Pirates.

The defending champions Zamalek are in the quest for their 27th title while Pyramids their first. Al Ahly is the record holder with 36 titles.

Micho guided the Cranes to the Africa Cup of Nations 2017 in Gabon while Desabre at Egypt 2019.
