The Ministry of Health has confirmed five new cases of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Junior Health Minister, Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu has confirmed these cases.

“Dear Ugandans, this is a very critical moment for everyone as the number of positive cases keeps scaling up. Five more people have been confirmed positive, including 2 of the 6 chinese that were got in Zombo. They cannot be presented in court for fear of further spread,” she tweeted.

WHO ARE THEY?

1st CASE – 63 year old Ugandan male who traveled from Germany.

Two of the six Chinese recently arrested from Zombo are among the victims.

Others are; an eight month old baby in Iganga District whose father had travelled to Kisumu in Kenya and 57-yr-old male trader (no travel history) in Adjumani but trades in salt at border.

This now brings the number of cases to 14.

However, according to the Director General of Health Servces, Dr. Henry Mwebesa, the country’s capacity to handle COVID-19 has increased.

“Our capacity to receive calls from our people for help with the COVID-19 has increased and you will be able to get in touch with us due to our increased capacity,” he said.
