The alumni students have been challenged to come back and support development projects at their former schools.
The appeal was over the weekend made by the archbishop of Kampala archdiocese Bishop Paul Ssemogerere during mass for marking 57 years of the existence of St.Maria Goretti Secondary school Katende in Mpigi district.

The theme of the day was ‘Lets us journey with purpose and accountability’
He appealed to the alumni students to actively participate and support development projects at their former schools.
‘I feel good to come back to St.Maria Goretti SS Katende in two categories namely as an old boy and now the archbishop of Kampala archdiocese and proud to associate with this school’ noted Ssemogerere.
Ssemogerere opened two two buildings to serve as a boys dormitory named after him and an S6 classroom block that shall serve as main auditorium respectively of which projects came from contributions from parents fees and humble contributions from friends and well-wishers of the school.
He registered both his personal appreciation and the church for the school headmistress Margret Kyambadde for presiding over the school especially promoting student discipline.
The chairman school board of governors Fr. Steven Muyanja noted how it was important that a strong team of alumni be set up with a mandate of mobilizing their colleagues to come and be part of the development agenda of the school.

The school PTA boss Yiga Herman Magandaazi praised the catholic church leadership for always being handy to offer both technical guidance and spiritual nourishment services to management and the student community which is the reason why the school remains focused in offering an all round education package to the student fraternity.
The headmistress Kyambadde said they will continue working closely with all stakeholders in ensuring that the standards of education are enhanced.
