Baba TV now on DSTV

By Francis Otucu

Baba TV has officially joined DSTV Channel 374.

The Kyabazinga of Busoga, William Gabula Nadiope IV and Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga among other high-end guests presided over the launch on Tuesday at MultiChoice Uganda headquarters in Kololo.

MultiChoice Uganda Managing Director Hassan Saleh in his remarks said Baba TV getting a Channel on DSTV is motivated by the service provider’s interest in promoting local content.

“We hope to continue bringing more local content to our viewers,” Saleh said.

Saleh was backed by Joan S. Kizza, the Manager PR and Communications, MultiChoice Uganda who later in an interview explained how Baba TV made it to DSTV.

“One of the challenges we have is the quality of pictures on our TV. We also look at how many people watch that particular station. That, we do through our research partner in Uganda on the reach of the TV. That helps us make informed decision on whether or not to give a channel on DSTV,” she said.

He was followed by Baba TV MD, Moses Balyeku who described the partnership as a big step in promoting Busoga and Uganda.

“Today marks a very big step for Busoga. This is Busoga TV. Kyabazinga TV. It’s a very big achievement because we (the Basoga) have a very big TV on DSTV. Technology is the way to go and I want to thank the NRM government because without the NRM government, we wouldn’t have been here. This is a great partnership. We are open to working with you (MultiChoice). Now we can bring all Kyabazinga programs. We are grateful,” he said.

Speaker Rebecca Kadaga appealed to management of the station to stick to not just Lusoga but good Lusoga so as to promote the culture.

“Speak Lusoga. Good Lusoga. This is a marketing tool because Busoga will be known. Uganda will be known,” Kadaga said, commending Balyeku and MultiChoice for the partnership.

The Kyabazinga on the other hand rallied his subjects to embrace Kyabazinga programs.

He also lauded MultiChoice Uganda and Baba TV for the partnership.
