Rubaga Battalion Sunday night shot dead two police officer and a civilian accomplice in a foiled armed robbery.
The incident in which Ambrose Byareta, Fred Turyomunsi and a one James were shot dead by army officers operating on an intelligence-led operation happened at Nankinga Zone, Bunamwaya, Makindye Sabagabo, Wakiso district.
Eyewitnesses said Turyomunsi, an armory attendant at Police headquarters, Naguru was the only one in civilian clothes.
Others, a ne James wore an army jacket while Byareta has an army sergeant rank/army uniform.
According to the police, the suspects put an unidentified woman traveling by airport taxi to Kampala on gunpoint. However, the army officers who had been briefed on intelligence and were trailing the woman’s attackers shot dead the trio before they could rob the said woman who was reportedly returning from a foreign country.
One pistol, No. UG POL.36326006 03890 was recovered at the scene.
