Bugisu Cultural Institution “Inzu” sourcing for Mbale University of Technology – Mudoma

“Good things come with good people” the latest exciting information coming from the Imbalu land is that the new Inzu Ya Bamasaba cultural leader His Highness Jude Mike Mudoma 111 has finally sourced for the Bugisu public university in the name of Mbale University of Technology.

The University which will kick start in 2024/2025 has already secured 60 arches of land at Bumageni village in Mbale  donated by the district authority.

Speaking to this Reporter the Umukuka 111 said that the district has embraced the concept and several meetings held with Inzu results to the authorities giving out one of the district buildings to start the Mbale Public university soon.

The Second Opinion has learnt that the district would give out either the building next to Mbale city council offices or former district commissioners building currently housing the public library.  

“It would require about 3 billion to start the Mbale University of Technology and currently we are set to sign a memorandum of understanding with the University of West London Bristol

UK to agree on terms of partnership with the new born University to grow” said His Highness Mike Jude Mudoma.

He said that the British University will also train his subjects from Masaba land in many educational areas like Agriculture, Journalism, Local Governance, Law among others that would help improve on the aspect of human resources in the new technological era but also create a big bond between Britain and Masabaland.

Mudoma   said that for a long time he has been struggling to see that Masabaland gets a public university like other regions says Busoga has one, Toro, Teso, Lango, Acholi, Arua , Buganda and Ankole and now it is time for Bamasaba to embrace Mbale university of Technology.

He said that the university would help to gap the problems of unemployment among the youths but also drive the Bugisu region to the new technological era where job creations is easy.

He added that the new institution would since it’s core aim is teaching technology then his region will benefit in the fight against land degradation and address other challenges of environmental destruction in Bugisu.

While in one of his tours in Eastern Uganda Sebei sub region

in August 2022 president Yoweri Museveni revealed that Bugisu would get a public university that could serve to solve the current trend of global unemployment.

According to Mudoma all paper work for Mbale university of technology was done and the ministry of education granted the license and other required documents to have the university in place.

 A letter written to His Highness Jude Mike Mudoma by the university steering committee chaired by Dr. Stephen Aurice Wekoye requesting to have Mbale university of technology outlines the main objectives of the institution as to equip the young generation with science, technology and ICT skills for job creation and economic self-sustenance.

 They will also train technicians, Engineers and science teachers with the required skills for management of sound construction, manufacturing practices and research organization, also to initiate and promote innovations in education, agriculture, engineering, ICT and environmental technology.

The University according to Dr. Stephen Aurice Wekoye will carry out operational and applied research in the region to solve the current and future challenges facing the Mt. Elgon and other surrounding regions in situations of solving problems of flood, landslides, naturals resources energy and rural development, population increase and poverty.

Dr. Wekoye adds that the new university will provide long term sustainable human resource development for national and regional development, like health and animal services, rural growth centres for example ITC, industrial parks and district farm institutes/demonstration farms.

They will initiate, promote, acquire and applied information communication technology for solving social economic technical and environmental problems in the country, where they would support the ongoing development activities for the vision 2040 through science, innovation and technology.

Mbale university of Technology would create mindset change through aware some sensitization and mobilization of community leaders and the entire local communities in the environmental issues, food security and wealth creation.

Dr. Kosea Wambaka an education icon from Bugisu says that Mbale university which according to him would be named Bugisu or Masaba university is timely because there is need to train the young generation with the new trend of skills especially in science and technology for self-sustenance.

“We want people to support the university because it’s teaching manuals would be practical, a person leaves the university while earning from the skills acquired during the tenure at the university” Dr. Wambaka said.
