The Resident district commissioner [RDC] Wakiso district Justine Mbabazi has urged the residents of Busukuma division to actively participate in the government economic empowerment programs such as Emyooga, PDM, GROW Program and youth livelihood programs among others as a deliberate effort to fight household poverty.
Mbabazi’s remarks were contained in her speech read out by the NRM chairman Busukuma division Nansana Municipality Ntanzi Male during an appraisal meeting between the area Emyooga beneficiary groups with officials from the Kampala Metropolitan Emyooga SACCO leaders presidential vote mobilization team which was on a field visit to evaluate the performance of Emyooga among the 15 divisions within theKampala Metropolitan region and the Central region respectively as directed by the president in light of the proposed increment of the funding package to those Saccos that perform well respectively..
Mbabazi observed that Wakiso district had performed well in terms of the utilization of the Emyooga funds but noted with concern that given the large population, many people have not benefited which warrants and qualifies the urgent to increase and extend the funding package to those that have not accessed the funds yet.
Ntanzi who is also aspiring NRM party Mayoral candidate for Busukuma division urged the beneficiaries to ensure they recover the funds such that others can access it for the good of their respective Emyooga Saccos however urged the members to vote for both the NRM presidential and all-party flagbearer candidates in the coming national elections.
The division coordinator of the division Emyooga Saccos Nsubuga Baker also doubling as the area boda boda riders Emyooga sacco Association boss pointed out that his members require professional skills to be in a better position to observe the business discipline.
The Kampala Metropolitan Emyooga Sacco leaders presidential vote mobilization team chairman Richard Tumwebaze congratulated the residents of Busukuma division for intensifying efforts of fighting household poverty through participation in the Emyooga program saying the government through the microfinance support centre [MSC] plans to extend more funds to those saccos that have a positive performance indicator.
