A Cameroonian performing artist and actor, Jang Afanyuh, arrived in Uganda for the Africa Monologue challenge 2024 which runs from July 23rd –August 30th, 2024. He is among the ten African artists expected to perform in Uganda. Upon his arrival at Entebbe International Airport he was warmly welcomed by Ugandan traditional dancers whom he joined in the traditional dance. This is the second edition of the Africa monologue challenge while the first edition was held in Ghana and won by Ugandan artist Racheal Nduhukire.
In his maiden speech upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, Artist Jang Afanyuh told the media that he was impressed with the manner in which he was welcomed by Ugandan traditional dancers and promised to give his fans the best entertainment, promote revival of African culture and values.
“I’m here for the Africa monologue challenge 2024. I promise Ugandans the best entertainment and to promote African values.’
The Director Creative art for Ghana, Nana Benjamin, highlighted that the Africa monologue challenge 2024, signifies the solidarity among African Countries and that it would go a long way to promote the beauty of Uganda.
“It’s about African coming together in solidarity to promote the beauty of Uganda and we must tell our own stories, we shouldn’t expect anybody to come and tell our stories. Therefore, this will promote Uganda to the rest of the world.
The Director Projects Pan-African Women’s Organization, Kenneth Henry Kanyike, revealed that his organization has partnered with the Africa Monologue challenge so as to promote Uganda’s beauty and Africa through telling African stories in an African way.
“The first challenge was held in Ghana and was won by Ugandan artist Racheal Nduhukire. So the first challenge, having been won by a Ugandan, the second edition had to be held in Uganda.
“We expect a total of ten artists from Africa and they will be in one house pan-Africa house –representing their respective countries. They will compete every day with monologues and they will come up with monologues about Uganda, Africa and explain to people about the beauty of Africa other than the narrative that Africa is poor, with hunger and that it’s where diseases come from.
Mr. Kanyike added that the ten arriving artists who are due to perform in Africa Monologue challenge 2024 would help to promote Uganda’s culture and African culture at both the continental and global level.
“As part of the arrangement, the performing artists will be visiting different parts of the country, different kingdoms like Buganda, Busoga and Toro Kingdom among others. This would enable people to appreciate the beauty of Uganda and Africa at large. At the end of day, there will be a grand finale where winners will be awarded for their contribution towards the development of Uganda and African continent, “Mr.Kanyinke revealed.’
He called upon all Ugandans to support the ongoing Africa monologue challenge 2024 as they experience different innovative activities that are purely African.
