City businessman, Yusuf Ssemakula has, through his lawyers of Lukwago and Co. Avocates, petitioned CID Director Grace Akullu to intervene into cases of mismanaged investigations, fraudulent transfer of land, malicious damage to property and criminal trespass against Kira Division officer in charge of Criminal Investigations, Maliserrino Mulema.

This, coming from a matter of land comprised in Kyadondo Block 185, Plot 385 at Kito, Kira division.

According to Ssemakula, Mulema is conniving with Tugume Winnie to grab his land.

Besides, he said in the petition, that a protest on the same land last December against Mulema’s actions, backed by Tugume led to the shooting dead of Ashraf Baka.

Two others were injured by private guards deployed on the contested land.

No one has since been arrested over the killing.

Instead, a matter of criminal trespass has been slapped on a one Joshua Bukenya who was not even at the scene of crime when the shooting occurred.

Yet, Ssemakula said, Mulema and Tugume were on the land at the time of the killing.

In his petition, Ssemakula said he does not expect a fair hearing from Mulema whom he said is a close friend to Tugume.

Against the above background, Ssemakula wants Mulema fired from conducting a probe into the matter citing bias that the murder case be investigated by the homicide department, CID headquarters and that a case of fraudulent transfer of land and malicious damage to property against Mulema be investigated by Land Protection Unit and a comprehensive report into the matter given.
