Cooperative Society Risks Losing Funding Over Homosexuality

By Francis Otucu

Kyempara Farmers’ Cooperative Society is being probed on claims of harboring homosexuals.

Details obtained from Bwera Police Station show a hunt for a one George William Wilobo who has been the cooperative’s Manager.

Using LGBT Youth Uganda, an organization he co-founded, Wilobo is said to have lured young people in to the cooperative using money before being filmed using facilities at Bwera Computer Training Center.

Wilobo has reportedly been using his organization based in the capital Kampala to fight for rights of lesbian and gay communities.

Police records show that the cooperative board chair, Yona Kalule has been summoned for ‘interview’’.

Sources say Kalule has been tasked to produce before police his employee.

Cultural and religious leaders have come out to condemn the act and the organization for promoting homosexuality.

There are now fears that the society could lose funding.

Kyempara, Wilobo’s employer has 1500 farmer members with operation of five districts. It employs 23 fulltime staff and has a production capacity of 15 tons per day capacity maize grain milling machine with funding from the United States Africa Foundation.
