The Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), Kibuli has in custody four people believed to have executed robbery at 10am on February 8, 2021 on Jinja Road opposite Bank of Africa in Kampala. The suspects moved in 4 pairs of motorcycles. Sure of their target, Kannankutty Krisnamoham, had just checked out of the bank. They intentionally knocked him down and fled with his bag as their victim slid into a coma. The bag, according to sources privy to to the probe, contained Euros 100, 000. Acting on intelligence, one of the suspects who, identified by the CID as Samuel Ssetimba alias Simple has been arrested. On interrogation, he confessed to have participated in the robbery with 3 others. He led investigators to Julius Mugisha, 35, a boda rider along the William Street in Kampala and a resident of Wakiso. According to CID spokesman, Charles Twine, the suspects previously escaped from lawful custody on their way to prison in June 2020. Then, they had robbed a Somali businessman Shs200 million at Equatorial Mall in Kampala. “Various efforts are being undertaken to ensure that the suspects who are still at large are traced, apprehended and charged before the Courts of Law,” Twine said.
