NATEETE: THE Police are investigating a case of murder by arson of Sarah Kamwaka, 40, a resident of Mbwawo Zone, Lubaga Division, Kampala District.
This, after 11am Wednesday incident in which she was attacked by a city barber named Abdul Kalegeya at a local bar where she was living, killed and set her body on fire.
Eyewitnesses say the suspect tried committing suicide by setting himself on fire but survived with serious injuries.
He has been rushed to Kiruddu Hospital for treatment.
Kampala Metropolitan Police say the suspect will be charged with murder and attempted suicide.
“The motive of the murder is still under investigation but it is alleged that the suspect had previously approached the deceased for a relationship, which she turned down,” KMP Deputy Spokesman, Luke Owoyesigyire said.
By press time, the deceased body was at the city mortuary for postmortem as investigations into the matter continue.
