Entebbe
As the Entebbe Division ‘B’ Parish youth council polls entered day
two, the Entebbe Deputy Mayor and four others suffered the wrath of
armed security personnel who apprehended them for allegedly disrupting
the election that had been extended today. The detainees include
Richard Sekyondo (Deputy Mayor), Daisy Ritah Nakyanzi (DP youth
representative on NEC), Rodric Kiwewa, Paul Niwagaba and Ronald
Serunjogi, all Democratic Party supporters.
The four were arrested for fueling conflicts in the re-election that
was scheduled to take place today following cancelation of the
election on day one.
According to DP supporters, they fault security organs of sidelining
with their counterpart in the ruling party by arresting their voters
to pave way for NRM’s victory.
“We have realized the security organs are biased because they favor
NRM supporters. They are impotent when it comes to arresting NRM
supporters but very brutal when handling opposition supporters.
However we are not scared by the presence of security personnel and we
shall continue advocating for truth and justice.
They also accused security personnel of battering DP supporters yet
its NRM supporters who provoked them and eventually chaos ensued
resulting into arrest of four DP supporters.
Meanwhile, the presiding electoral officer, Steven Buwembo was forced
to cancel the youth polls after the voters became unruly citing voter
bribery and betrayal on the side of some DP supporters who allegedly
received a bribe each worth Shs 2m so that they don’t show up on the
polling day.

The Entebbe Deputy mayor who was bundled on a police truck and whisked
to Entebbe police condemned the security organs for being so brutal
when arresting him over minor issues.
