In abid to bring medical services closer to locals, management of DFCU Bank in partnership with Rotary Uganda have conducted a medical camp at Nakivubo Blue school and offered free treatment to people residing in the suburbs of Katwe , Nakivubo, Kisenyi and Owino.
The Chapter president Rotary of Kampala Blue Hearts, Marjorine Namyalo, noted that the medical camp was powered by DFCU Bank (main sponsor), Joint Medical Stores, Mengo Blood Bank and the Organization for Health Promotions.
Namyalo is confident that such medical camps are crucial in bringing free healthcare closer to vulnerable communities.
While addressing the media during the medical camp, Marjorine Namyalo, the Chapter President Rotary of Kampala Blue Hearts, disclosed that the medical camp covered free screening for syphilis, HIV, malaria, typhoid, and sickle cells among other ailments. She, however said the medical camp targeted between 1000-2000 locals but unfortunately the early morning rains affected the turn up.
The Executive Director Organization for Health Promotions, Dr. Evans Tusubira, told the press that the medical camp was intended to give chance to people who can’t afford medical services to access them free of charge.
He further noted they intend to extend the similar medical camps to upcountry people where there are more vulnerable communities.
