By Elijah Khisa

Given the harsh economic and new escalating societal challenges, it is likely going to be very hard for less empowered, less educated women to benefit from the dwindling global resources.

The remarks have been made by Prof.Dr.Maggie Kigozi who is an investment Expert Entrepreneur, farmer, feminist, and director Century bottling company Ltd makers of Cola soft drink products among jobs.

The distinguished and polished leader was speaking exclusively during an interview with this website  at the Latitude hotel Makindye while delivering her international women’s day message.

Kigozi says the  women of Uganda should be commended for investing their time, energies and the scarce resources among  small holder business ventures which have enabled many to earn a sustainable income for a better livelihood.

‘As we celebrate this great day for the women of the world we need to look back at what achievements have they attained especially those in deep rural communities and challenge the government to empower them with vital resources and opportunities that can help push them out of the entrenched poverty’ noted Kigozi.

Kigozi who doubles as chancellor of the Pentecostal University Kabale commended the government and president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for coming out boldly with strategic empowerment programs geared towards helping the rural women overcome the burden of poverty by creating a long list of programs and projects.

‘On my part and my business partners have struggled to put together resources such that we set up projects which have in return helped create jobs for the women such as the Pepsi Cola plant at Namanve among several projects which gives out lots of jobs to citizens especially the women folks who are vulnerable to negative societal challenges’ observed Kigozi.

She challenged both the government and private sector leaders at all levels to ensure that women are given the opportunity to participate in the economic development agenda of their motherland as well as the males who are crucial in decision making.
