Easter Crime Report: + Sons held for killing mother over land + Man kills self after testing HIV positive + Woman hits husband dead

An Easter crime report we have compiled so far shows five incidents of murder recorded in Luweero, Kyankwanzi, Mityana and Kasandha districts.

The police have acted in all incidents.

In some cases, those suspected to have had a hand have been arrested to help in investigation.

KYANKWANZI

The police at Ntwetwe is investigating a case of murder which was reported at Ntwetwe Police Station on April 22, 2019 Vide SD Ref 11/21/04/2019.

Mathias Rwabugande, 72, was reported hit by his wife identified as Maria Bazihizina, 50, after a disagreement on Easter.

He later on arrival at Ntwetwe Health Centre.

Bazihizina has been arrested to help in investigation.

The incident happened in Kayindiyindi Village, Kayindiyindi Parish in Kitabona Sub County.

Regional Police Spokesman, Paul Kangave said the deceased developed a misunderstanding with his wife whish he said later got physical.

“When they started quarreling, Maria got a stick and started beating her husband who was drunk until he collapsed. The husband was rushed to Ntwetwe Health Centre from where he died,” he said.

Kangave noted that the scene of crime was visited Vide Ntwetwe CRB 86/2019 while postmortem is yet to be carried out.

The suspect remains detained, he said.

MITYANA

Death by suicide was recorded at Mityana Central Police Station.

The matter was reported by Jane Katushabe, 62, a  resident of Kibibi Garage ‘A’, Busimbi division, Mityana District saying about 5pm on Easter, Alex Kavuma committed suicide by hanging self.

He had reportedly been discharged from hospital where he had earlier been admitted.

Detectives following the matter say while at Hosifa hospital, he was found positive of HIV.

He then decided to hang himself.

Regional Police spokesperson Norbert Ochom said Kavuma died of depression.

The crime scene, according to Ochom, was earlier visited and postmortem carried out.

MITYANA

Death as a result of assault was reported at Mityana Central Police Station Vide MTN/CRB/628/2019.

The matter was reported by Abel Nsubuga, the area LCI of Kitongo village in Butayonja sub county, Mityana District that on April 7, 2019, Saul Lukoda, 19, had a misunderstanding with casual laborers of National Forest-Kitongo.

He was assaulted and later rushed to a shrine for treatment. He however succumbed to injuries on Easter.

Norbert Ochom, the regional police spokesman said the hunt for the suspects is on.

KASANDHA

In Kasandha, a murder case was reported to Manyogaseka Police Post yesterday.

The report shows that Sunday Gitta, 38, a resident of Kawawa LCI, Manyogaseka sub county in  Kassanda district was found in the bush.

Gitta was suspected to have been strangled due to land related wrangles.

Her sons; Michael Kayita and a one Waswa have been arrested to help in investigation.

SAVANNAH/LUWEERO

In Bombo, a boda boda rider identified as William Nyombi was discovered dead by the roadside in Kasala-Mukulubita Sub County in Bombo. He laid in a pool of blood. A deep cut could be seen on his head while his motorcycle, registration number UDN 225N remained abandoned at the scene. Regional Police spokesperson, Paul Kangave said by the time of Nyombi’s attack, he was on his way home.

He said further inquiries have been instituted Vide Bombo CRB 169/2019.
